Project Proposal
Grad Film Title: Me and My Grandmother
Format: The film with be 2D hand drawn.
Approximate running time: 3-4 minutes
Summary : To produce a 3
minute animated short film that is about a relationship of a little girl and
her grandmother.
Synopsis:
This story is
based on my childhood memory between my grandma and I. Unlike other kids who
are usually excited to visit their grandma, this is a story about a little girl
who can’t get along with her grandma
Description:
Act I : The little girl
is being forced to live with her grandma when her parents drop her at her
grandma’s place.
Act II: Being
alone in grandma’s house, the little girl had a frog as a friend which ends up
being my dinner on the table. Then she plays with washing powder because she
thinks it is white sand. When the grandma saw, she slaps the little girl and
made her lift two buckets of water as the punishment. However, she went back to
play white sand (washing powder) and this time two shadows come in which
appears to be her parents. When her parents came to pick her up, the little
girl realizes that her grandma passed away.
Act III : In
parents car, passing through the tunnel , on Canada’s skytrain. (During the
process, she is growing up). She gets off from skytrain station, open the
umbrella (because it is raining) then saw a little girl drop her ball, then the
ball catches her attention because that ball turn into the illusion of frog.
She chases the ball and pick up the ball. Give it back the ball to the little
girl, then she saw the little girl as herself (child version). That little girl
saying bye and left her, that mother becomes to the illusion of grandma.
Budget:
My story will be done with digital and hand-painted watercolour.
Therefore, in terms of the software, I will only need Adobe Photoshop, TVPaint
and After Effects. Also, I will need pencils, an eraser, and a sketchbook
for doing thumbnails and rough storyboards. Watercolour paper and watercolour.
I will need a camera to capture some inspirations or references throughout the
making of this film. Also, a backup drive is needed for keeping all my
files. In addition, I will need a Cintiq to work on everything that’s
going to be done digitally.
